The Metals:

 

Gold fell $5.70 to $1314.80 in Asia before it bounced back to $1321.00 in London and then drifted back lower in morning New York trade, but it then bounced back higher into the close and ended with a loss of just 0.04%. Silver fell to as low as $17.04 and ended with a loss of 0.47%.

 

Euro gold rose to about €1103, platinum gained $3 to $970, and copper remained at about $3.22.

 

Gold and silver equities fell roughly 1% by late morning and remained near that level for the rest of the day.

 

The Economy:

 

U.S. Consumer Credit Jumped in November by Most Since 2001  Bloomberg

 

Tomorrow brings JOLTS data.

 

The Markets:

 

Oil edged higher on geopolitical concerns.

 

The U.S. dollar index rose on hawkish fed talk.

 

Treasuries held near unchanged while the Dow, Nasdaq, and S&P traded mixed ahead of this week’s earnings reports.

 

Among the big names making news in the market today were Intel, Facebook, Sony, Toyota, GoPro, and Kohl’s.
